A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a tragic collision in Bexleyheath last summer that resulted in the death of a nine-year-old girl.
Charges Against Bus Driver
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Command have charged 23-year-old Martin Asolo-Agogua, of Nunhead, with:
- Causing %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% by dangerous driving
- Causing death by careless driving while under the influence of drink or %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%
- Driving whilst over the drug limit
The charges were formally made on Thursday, 13 %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%%.
Fatal Collision in Watling Street
Police were called to Watling %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%%, near the junction with Halcot Avenue, on the morning of Saturday, 3 August 2024, after a bus collided with two children.
Both %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% were rushed to hospital, but despite medical intervention, nine-year-old Ada Bicakci tragically died on Monday, 5 August.
Ada's %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% is being supported by specialist officers as they continue to grieve their devastating loss.
Arrest and Court Proceedings
Asolo-Agogua, who was driving the bus at the time, was arrested on the day of the incident on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving and drug-driving.
He has been bailed and is scheduled to appear at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 24 March.
Ongoing Investigation
The case remains under police %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%%, and officers are urging any witnesses or those with dashcam footage from the area on the morning of 3 August 2024 to come forward.
