A Birmingham man has been locked up for more than two years after being caught in a police sting involving assault and a huge cannabis stash.
Police Catch Xiao Long Lin During Routine Stop
Back in May, West Midlands Police were patrolling the Southside area of Birmingham when they stopped a car. Among the passengers was Xiao Long Lin, 28, who was already wanted over a violent assault from the previous September.
Lin was detained on the spot, sparking a search of his Essex Street home.
£12,000 Worth of Cannabis Found in Bedroom Search
Officers uncovered two suitcases packed with cannabis, estimated to be worth over £12,000. Lin was immediately arrested for possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.
Violent Assault in September Leads to Prison Sentence
The assault charge relates to an attack where Lin allegedly struck a man with a metal pole outside a Birmingham apartment block in September last year.
He pleaded guilty to both the assault occasioning actual bodily harm and the drug charge at Birmingham Crown Court.
Lin was sentenced to two years and three months behind bars. He’s also slapped with a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim.
