Sussex Police have issued a warning to motorists after a driver narrowly avoided multiple head-on collisions while driving the wrong way on the A24.
Peter Byrne, the driver in question, failed to heed road signs at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% and instead followed incorrect sat nav instructions, putting himself and others in grave danger.
Police are sharing details of the case as a stark reminder for all drivers to remain fully aware of road signs and traffic directions rather than relying solely on %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%%.
Roads %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% Unit officer PC Mark Gregory stated: "The case highlights that drivers must be more aware of road signs and directions, and not just simply follow a satnav instruction. Byrne has learned this expensive lesson in %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%%, but is also fortunate not to have caused a serious collision."
Authorities are urging drivers to remain vigilant and ensure they make informed decisions while on the road to prevent similar dangerous incidents.
