A Swindon man has been slapped with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) banning him from entering any Co-op or Tesco Express stores across england/the-Towntown/”>the town.
Serial Shoplifter Faces Tough Punishment
Stuart hook-wales/”>Hook, 37, who has no fixed address, faced Swindon Magistrates Court on September 12. He was charged with nine counts of theft from Co-op and Tesco Express shops between June and August 2025, stealing goods Worthworth hundreds of pounds.
Hook received a six-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, 120 hours of unpaid work, and must undertake up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity. Crucially, the Criminal Behaviour Order bars him from all Co-op and Tesco Express branches in Swindon.
Police Crack Down on Persistent Shop Theft
PC Andy Caldwell said, “This Criminal Behaviour Order has been put in place to protect local retailers and their staff from repeated theft and disruption. It sends a clear message that persistent anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated in Swindon.”
“If Hook breaches any of the conditions, he will face arrest and further prosecution. We remain committed to supporting businesses and taking firm action against those who repeatedly offend.”
