Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park has reopened today (8 December 2024) after being forced to close yesterday due to the strong winds brought by Storm Darragh.

The festive attraction announced an emergency closure on 7 December as gusts of up to 50mph swept through London. The Royal Parks also closed Hyde Park entirely as a safety precaution, with a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office in place until 6 a.m. today.

Extended Weather Warning

Although the weather warning has now been extended until 6 p.m. tonight, Winter Wonderland has resumed operations and will run as scheduled.

Official Statement

A spokesperson for Winter Wonderland confirmed the reopening, saying:

“We’re pleased to confirm that Hyde Park Winter Wonderland will be open again on Sunday, 8th December, 2024, from 11 a.m.

“We’re so excited to be welcoming you all back tomorrow. Tickets are available to book online or via our app.”

Previous Closures

This is the second time the popular event has been disrupted by extreme weather this season. Winter Wonderland also closed in late November due to Storm Bert, highlighting the challenges posed by this year’s storm season.

Visitor Safety

Organisers are urging visitors to dress appropriately for the weather and to check updates on Winter Wonderland’s official website or app before traveling.

The reopening comes as welcome news to many who had their plans disrupted yesterday, with families and festive enthusiasts eager to return to the seasonal celebration.
