Victoria Underground Station was closed on Friday night after smoke was detected on the District Line eastbound track, prompting a swift response from emergency services and causing significant disruption to late-evening travel in central London.

The alarm was raised at approximately 10:30pm, with reports of smoke emanating from the eastbound track  at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Station  on Terminus Place.

Multiple emergency response units, including %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% crews and transport officials, were dispatched to the incident.

Emergency Response and Safety Measures

While the incident is not currently believed to involve flames, smoke from the track or line equipment has prompted a full safety inspection. Emergency services remain on site to monitor the situation.

Disruption to Services
