A man has been charged with murder nearly four years after the fatal shooting of Leroy Mitchell in Croydon following a silent disco.
Cimarron Dume-Gooden, 32, of no fixed address, was charged on Monday, 16 June 2025 with the murder of 35-year-old Leroy Mitchell and perverting the course of justice.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today, Tuesday, 17 June.
The 2021 Killing
Police were called at approximately 05:00hrs on Saturday, 2 October 2021, to reports of a man shot in a car park on Birdhurst Road, Croydon. Leroy Mitchell had reportedly just left a silent disco event when the attack occurred.
Despite the efforts of officers and London ambulance-service/" title="Ambulance Service" rel="nofollow">Ambulance Service paramedics, Leroy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into his death has been ongoing for several years, led by the Metropolitan Police Specialist Crime Command.
Justice Delayed, Not Denied
Following the breakthrough in the case, the Met Police confirmed that charges have now been brought against Dume-Gooden, who will face magistrates for a first appearance hearing.
Further court proceedings, including a likely transfer to a Crown Court for trial, are expected in the coming months.
