A woman has been jailed after a drink-drive collision near Tamworth claimed the life of her passenger. Chloe Bannister, 29, was sentenced to two years in prison following the fatal crash on Coppice Lane on 15 November 2023.
Bannister, who was found to be almost 1.5 times over the legal alcohol limit, lost control of her car late at night, veering off the road and crashing into a field. Her passenger, a 33-year-old man from Cheshire, sustained critical injuries and tragically died the following day in hospital.
At court, Bannister was also banned from driving for five years, a punishment Warwickshire Police say reflects the devastating consequences of her reckless decision to get behind the wheel while intoxicated.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police said:
“Chloe Bannister’s irresponsible and reckless actions have left a family heartbroken. One moment of poor judgement has taken a life and changed others forever. The tragic result of her actions should serve as a stark reminder to all drivers.”
