A 62-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Edmonton, North London, on Wednesday, 30 October, with police quickly arresting a 55-year-old woman who is believed to have known the victim. Detectives have launched a murder investigation and confirmed that the suspect remains in custody.

Emergency services were called to a residence on Westerham Avenue at 4:53 pm following reports of an unresponsive woman. Police and paramedics arrived to find the victim with apparent stab wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s family has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be scheduled.

Detective Superintendent Marco Bardetti, leading local policing in Enfield and Haringey, acknowledged the community’s concern and assured residents of a heightened police presence in the area. “I know that local people will be concerned by this shocking loss of life,” Bardetti stated. “A crime scene remains in place, and I’d like to thank residents for their patience as our Specialist Crime Command conducts inquiries.”

Police have indicated they are not seeking any additional suspects, and there is no indication of ongoing risk to the public.

Authorities are encouraging anyone with concerns to speak with patrolling officers or contact their local Neighborhood Policing Team for support.
