Family Pay Tribute to Father Who Died in Fall at Oasis Wembley Concert

Overview

The family of a devoted Oasis fan who tragically fell to his death during the band's sold-out concert at Wembley Stadium have paid tribute to him as "a loving father, partner, and best friend."

Lee Claydon, 41, from Bournemouth, died after falling from an upper-tier balcony during Saturday night's concert, which was attended by 100,000 fans. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but despite their best efforts, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% was sadly pronounced dead.

The fatal fall occurred during the final moments of the show as fireworks lit up the stadium following Oasis' closing track, Champagne Supernova.

Family Tribute: "Our World Has Been Shattered"

Lee's brother, Aaron Claydon, paid tribute in a heartfelt message posted on a GoFundMe page set up to support Lee's partner, Amanda, and their son, Harry.

"Our %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% has been turned upside down and are struggling to deal with this devastation and unexpected loss," Aaron wrote.

"Lee was a loving family man who was a role model to his son Harry and was loved so much by all his family. He would have done anything for any of us and was taken far too soon. We will miss him so very much."

Aaron added that Lee was "the life and soul of any room," with passions ranging from music and playing guitar to football and fishing.

Oasis 'Shocked and Saddened'

Liam and Noel Gallagher issued a joint statement saying they were "shocked and saddened" by the tragedy, extending condolences to Lee's family and friends.

During Sunday night's performance, Liam Gallagher dedicated %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% Forever to "all the people who can't be here tonight, but who are here if you know what I mean."

Witnesses Describe Horrific Scenes

Eyewitnesses described the moment Lee fell as "horrific," with one fan initially mistaking the fall for a coat dropping from the upper tier.

"It was horrendous. There was a lot of screaming and shouting. Paramedics were on him in seconds, but it was a massive fall," another fan told the Daily Mail.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that officers responded to the incident at 10:19pm on Saturday, 2 August. "A man, aged in his 40s, was found with injuries consistent with a fall. He was sadly pronounced dead at the scene," a spokesperson said.

Appeal for Witnesses

Detectives are appealing to any concertgoers who may have witnessed the incident or captured footage on their mobile phones.

"We believe it is likely a number of people witnessed the incident, or may have unknowingly recorded it. If you have any information, please contact police on 101 quoting 7985/02AUG," the Met said.

Alcohol Sales Criticised

Former Sky Sports presenter Richard Keys, who attended the concert, expressed concern over the volume of alcohol sold at the venue. "The cause was the massive amount of alcohol allowed into the arena. It wouldn't happen at a football match and shouldn't happen at a concert," he said.

A Wembley Stadium spokesperson confirmed the incident and said: "Wembley Stadium medics, the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% Ambulance Service, and police attended to a concertgoer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. We are assisting police with their investigation."

GoFundMe Launched to Support Family

A fundraising campaign has been launched to support Lee’s partner Amanda and their son. The family hopes to alleviate financial pressures during this devastating time.
