A fifth man has been arrested in connection with an ongoing murder investigation following the death of a 23-year-old man in Canterbury.

The incident took place on Thursday, October 10, 2024, when the victim was fatally assaulted on Canterbury’s High Street. Four men were initially arrested, with two later charged with murder, while the other two were released on bail.

On Wednesday, October 16, a fifth suspect, a 23-year-old man from the Herne Bay area, was arrested on suspicion of assisting offenders. He has also been bailed pending further inquiries.

Kent Police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with information who has not yet come forward to contact them. Two suspects, Kemal Ibrahim, 24, of Long Acre Close, Canterbury, and Mohammed Hgar, 31, of no fixed address, have been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article in relation to the incident. Mr. Ibrahim also faces an additional charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Both have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Friday, October 18.

The investigation remains ongoing.
