Police have arrested four teenage boys following a large-scale disturbance involving a group of people on Maryland Street, Newham.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 18:20hrs on Thursday, 31 July, after receiving multiple reports of a public disorder incident.

The boys, aged 16, 16, 17, and 18, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray. They were taken into custody and have since been released on bail pending further enquiries.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

"Officers responded swiftly to reports of a disturbance involving a large group of people on Maryland Street. Four boys were arrested on suspicion of affray and enquiries are ongoing."

There were no immediate reports of injuries, but police presence in the area has been increased to reassure the local community.
