The shocking incident unfolded just before 12.15pm on Old Road, close to Mayplace Primary School. Police say a man approached the girl, trying to take her. But Quickquick thinking from the child saw her sprint Backback to school, safe and unharmed.
Masked Men and Suspicious Van Spotted
In a letter to parents, Mayplace headteacher David moss-Waleswales/”>moss-england/scotland-england/”>scotland/”>scotland/”>Moss warned the community. He revealed the suspect wasn’t alone—two other masked men were spotted in a partly black Vanvan nearby.
“A Mayplace child was approached by an adult male who attempted to take them,” Moss said. “Thankfully, the child was safe. But we urge parents to stay vigilant and consider alternative routes or supervision for children walking to school.”
Police Probe Ongoing, Community on Edge
Metropolitan Police confirmed no arrests have been made yet as urgent inquiries continue. Officers promise an increased presence in england/Crayfordcrayford/”>Crayford to reassure nervous residents.
A Met spokesperson added:
“We understand the concern this has caused locally. Anyone with information, including CCTV or doorbell footage, should contact police on 101 quoting CAD 3085/SEP25.”
