Police have launched an investigation into a suspected arson attack at a popular Birmingham city centre bar in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Fire crews were called to the Coyote Ugly bar on Broad Street shortly before 4:00am GMT following reports of a blaze outside the premises.

West Midlands Police have since confirmed that detectives are investigating the incident as a possible act of arson. It is believed that a sign and part of a door at the front of the bar were deliberately set alight.

The fire was quickly brought under control by firefighters, and no injuries have been reported. However, minor damage was sustained to the exterior of the building.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said:

An investigation is now underway following a fire outside a business premises on Broad Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning. At this stage, it is being treated as suspected arson. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Broad Street remains open, and there has been no disruption to nearby businesses.

Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around the time of the fire to come forward.
