A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a brutal stabbing left a person with life-altering injuries in Stratford, East London.

Jasanth Sivanesa was arrested on Friday (November 29) following an extensive investigation by detectives. He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court today (Monday, December 2).

The incident occurred on August 19 at around 9:10 pm on Elis Way, a bustling residential street lined with modern high-rises. Emergency services arrived to find the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the head, abdomen, and back.

The injured individual was rushed to the hospital, where doctors successfully saved their life. However, their injuries have been assessed as life-changing.

The Metropolitan Police launched an investigation immediately after the attack, eventually leading to Sivanesa’s arrest last week.

A police spokesperson confirmed the seriousness of the charges and urged anyone with further information about the incident to contact them via 101, referencing the case.
