A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a brutal stabbing in East London earlier this year.

Jasanth Sivanesa is accused of attacking a person on Elis Way, Stratford, on August 19, 2024, leaving the victim with life-changing injuries. Sivanesa was arrested on Friday, November 29, after an investigation by detectives and has been remanded in custody.

He is set to appear in court today (Monday, December 2).

The Attack

The assault occurred at 9:10 PM on Elis Way, a residential street in Stratford surrounded by new-build high-rises. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene, where they found the victim with multiple stab wounds to the head, abdomen, and back.

The victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. While the injuries were not fatal, medical assessments have determined they are life-changing.
