Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of a 73-year-old man in Southport.

%%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% were called to a property on Braemar Avenue at 11:50pm on Sunday, December 22, 2024, following concerns for a man at the address. Paramedics attended, but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% is being supported by specialist officers.

John David Sarwanskyj, 52, of Braemar Avenue, has been charged with %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% on Thursday, December 26.

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Nuttall, leading the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%%, stated:
"Although a charge has been made, we continue to appeal for information to establish the full circumstances of what has taken place.

"I would ask anyone who was in the vicinity of Braemar Avenue at the time and has not yet spoken to us to get in touch. Additionally, I urge those with %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% or dashcam footage to check it for anything significant that could assist our investigation.

"We would also remind the public not to speculate while the investigation is ongoing."
