A man has been charged following a serious sexual assault on Brighton Beach near the iconic pier in the early hours of Thursday, 1 May.
Sam Soyoye, 31, of Windsor Street, Brighton, appeared in court on Saturday, 3 May, charged with rape. He has been remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
Victim Receiving Specialist Support
The female victim is currently receiving support from specially trained officers, Sussex Police confirmed.
The alleged assault took place shortly after midnight on the busy beach, a popular spot for both locals and tourists.
Additional Charges Linked to Separate Incident
Soyoye also faces three further charges of sexual assault linked to a separate case reported in September 2024, involving another female victim.
Detective Inspector Kirstie Neal of the Brighton Safeguarding Investigations Unit said:
Both victims are receiving ongoing support. We encourage all victims of rape or sexual offences to come forward and report to the police.
