A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed with immediate effect after being found guilty of racial abuse and assaulting a fellow officer.

PC Shaun Davies Dismissed Without Notice

PC Shaun Davies, who was based at the Central North Command Unit, was dismissed without notice following a misconduct hearing that concluded on Thursday, February 13.

The hearing found that Davies had:

  • Made racially offensive and discriminatory comments to a fellow officer.
  • Pulled her hair without consent.
  • Made a racially prejudiced gesture towards another officer in a separate incident.

The incidents occurred in December 2009 and June 2010.

Metropolitan Police Condemn Officer’s Actions

Chief Superintendent Andrew Carter, head of policing at the Central North Command Unit, strongly condemned Davies’ conduct:

“The behaviour displayed by PC Shaun Davies is wholly unacceptable. We are committed to ensuring that actions do have consequences, and anyone who displays such views is not fit to serve in our organisation. It’s right that he has been dismissed with immediate effect.”

Officer Barred from Policing

PC Davies was found to have breached the Standards of Professional Behaviour in relation to equality and diversity.

As a result, he has been placed on the barred list maintained by the College of Policing, meaning he cannot be employed by:

  • Any police force in the UK
  • Local policing bodies (PCCs)
  • The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC)
  • His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services

The Met Police continues to take disciplinary action against officers found guilty of misconduct, reinforcing its zero-tolerance approach to racism and discrimination within the force.
