A motorbike rider has tragically died following a serious crash on the M2 in Kent this afternoon. The collision occurred between Junction 3 (Chatham) and Junction 4 (Hempstead), resulting in the closure of the motorway in both directions for a short time the London bound carriageway has since reopened.

The coastbound Carriage will remain closed until the early hours of  Monday morning.

Despite the best efforts of police and paramedics, the rider—who was thrown from his high-powered motorcycle—was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kent Police have launched a full forensic collision investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The M2 coastbound carriageway remains closed to assist with the ongoing investigation.

All emergency services are in attendance, alongside National Highways Traffic Officers, who are helping manage traffic in the area. Motorists are being advised to seek alternative routes and expect significant delays.
