Detectives are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man in connection with an attempted rape that occurred in Limehouse, Tower Hamlets, earlier this month.
The incident took place between 5:00pm and 6:00pm on Monday, 17 February, inside a social and health club on Commercial Road, E14. Police were alerted shortly after, and an investigation has been ongoing since.
It is alleged that a man attempted to rape the victim, a man in his 20s. The suspect is described as a man in his mid to late 50s.
CCTV Image Released
As part of their investigation, officers from the Central East Public Protection Team have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to identify. The image was captured in the area around the time of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Stacey Smith said:
“This was a terrifying experience for the victim, who continues to be supported by specialist officers. We are seeking the help of the public to identify the man in this image. Do you recognise him? Did you see him in the area that night? If you believe you know who he is, please don’t approach him directly—contact the police.”
Appeal for Witnesses
Police are urging anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around Commercial Road during the time of the incident or who recognises the man in the CCTV image to come forward.
