Road Closures

The A5 was temporarily closed during the emergency response but has since reopened.

Appeal for Witnesses

Detective Sergeant Shona Birkby, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit, urged witnesses to come forward:

“This was an incredibly serious incident that has left one man in a life-threatening condition.

“We are keen to identify the driver of an HGV van believed to have been traveling along the A5 at the time of the collision, as well as a number of witnesses who left the scene prior to police arrival.

“Anyone with dashcam footage of the events leading up to the collision or the incident itself is asked to please get in touch immediately.”

Anyone with information, including dashcam footage, is asked to contact police via the Bedfordshire Police website or by calling 101 and quoting Operation Garden.
