A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison after robbing a post office in Broadstairs and being arrested by Kent Police just hours later.
Harry Marshall targeted the Dumpton Post Office on Ramsgate Road at 6:42am on Saturday, August 3, 2024, where he threatened a staff member with a blade and demanded cash.
The Robbery
Marshall fled the scene with money from the till, dropping an extendable baton as he left. He escaped on a moped but was swiftly apprehended less than four hours later by officers who spotted him nearby.
Cash was recovered during the arrest, and Marshall was subsequently charged with robbery, possession of a knife, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Sentencing
Marshall pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced at Canterbury Crown Court on Thursday, December 19.

Marshall put his victim through a frightening experience, making him believe he would be harmed if he refused to hand over the money from his business.
“Marshall’s despicable actions that day have had a lasting impact on his victim, and it is right that a custodial sentence has been imposed. We will always strive to bring offenders such as Marshall to justice.”
