The closure is wreaking havoc for drivers heading towards %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% Airport.
Police, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% Fire and Rescue, and %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% Ambulance Service are on the scene. Injuries are still unconfirmed.
Traffic Nightmare: Delays Snarl Back to Staines
Motorists are trapped in gridlock with exit times now exceeding 30 minutes. Tailbacks stretch as far as %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% 13 (A30) near %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%%, with heavy congestion spilling onto the A30 into town. Drivers are urged to steer clear if they can.
National %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_9%% warns the motorway closure will stay in place until around 10:45am, with a full reopening expected shortly after. Delays are currently 40 minutes above normal.
'Up & Over' Closure Sparks Diversions
To tackle the chaos, traffic is being diverted off and back on via the slip roads in an “up & over” closure. Commuters should seek alternative routes to dodge the jam.
