Woolwich, London — A 14-year-old boy, Kelyan Bokassa, was tragically stabbed to death in broad daylight on a busy bus in Woolwich on January 7, sparking shock and grief in the local community.
The attack occurred around 2:30pm on a 472 route bus on Woolwich Church Road, near the junction with the A205 South Circular Road, by the Woolwich Ferry bus stop. Despite the swift arrival of emergency services, Kelyan was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation and Arrests
The Metropolitan Police launched a murder investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Martin Thorpe, who has appealed for witnesses and footage to aid the inquiry.
“The incident happened shortly before 14:30hrs on a route 472 bus on Woolwich Church Street, SE18 at the Woolwich Ferry bus stop,” said DCI Thorpe. “If anyone saw this horrific attack or was in the area, I urge them to come forward and speak to officers. We’re particularly interested in any mobile phone footage that captured this incident, or any dashcam or doorbell footage from around the surrounding area at the time.”
As part of the investigation, two teenage boys, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on January 15 and subsequently charged with murder the following day. They are currently in custody awaiting further legal proceedings.

Police continue to seek information from the public, particularly anyone who may have been on the 472 bus at the time or in the vicinity of Woolwich Church Road between 2:00pm and 3:00pm on January 7.
