A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital following a suspected hit-and-run collision in Stratford this afternoon.
Emergency services were called to The Grove, near the junction with Great Eastern Road, at just before 12:20pm after reports that a car had struck a pedestrian in the road.
The victim was treated at the scene by %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%% Ambulance Service paramedics before being taken to hospital. The extent of his injuries remains unknown at this time, according to a Metropolitan %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% spokesperson.
Driver Fled the Scene
Police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene prior to their arrival. An %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% is now underway to trace the individual responsible.
"We are working to identify the driver involved in this incident and would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or has dashcam or %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% footage to come forward," said a police spokesperson.
Road Closures and Bus Diversions
A police cordon remains in place at the scene, causing disruption in the area. Bus routes 69 and 257 have been diverted as a result of the road closures.
