Kent Police have seized over a tonne of cannabis in a major operation targeting organised crime networks, with two men now charged in connection with the find.
Officers stopped a Ford Transit van on Wrotham Road, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%, on the afternoon of Wednesday, 13 November 2024, following reports of suspicious activity. Upon searching the van, they discovered 500 kilograms of packed cannabis.
Further inquiries led detectives to a property in Herne Hill, southeast %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%%, later that day. Another 800 kilograms of cannabis was seized at the property. The total %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% value of the seized drugs is estimated to exceed £1 million.
Arrests and Charges
Two men were arrested at the scene and later charged with possession of cannabis with intent to supply:
- Jack Phillips, 69, of %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% Road, Herne Hill
- Ramesh Tuladhar, 57, of Norcott Road, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% Newington
Both appeared before %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 15 November and were remanded in custody. They are due to appear at %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%% Crown Court on a date yet to be confirmed.
