A continued crackdown on shoplifting in north Kent has resulted in two more suspects being charged in connection with separate thefts from supermarkets in Gravesend and Dartford.
Suspect Arrested for Alcohol Theft in Gravesend
Police were called to Sainsbury's in Pepperhill, Gravesend, at 11:30 am on February 5, following reports that bottles of alcohol had been %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_0%%.
Officers swiftly attended the scene, resulting in the arrest of 42-year-old Anthony Bado, of %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% Grove, Greenwich, London.
Following an %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%%, Bado was charged with theft and has been remanded to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on February 6.
Second Suspect Arrested in Dartford After Theft and Assault on Officers
In an unrelated incident, police arrested a %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% on February 5 in connection with the theft of meat from Sainsbury's in Dartford the previous day.
The arrest took place near the Priory %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% Centre in Dartford. However, during the process, it was alleged that the suspect damaged a %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% car and spat at three officers.
As a result, 39-year-old Brian Langford, of Wordsworth Way, Dartford, was charged with %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%%, criminal damage, and assault on an emergency worker.
Court Appearance
Both Bado and Langford were remanded in custody and are set to appear before %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% Magistrates' Court today, February 6.
Ongoing Crackdown on Shoplifting
The arrests are part of Kent Police's ongoing operation to tackle retail %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%% and protect businesses from repeat offenders.
A spokesperson for %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_9%% stated:
“Shoplifting is not a victimless crime. Retail theft not only affects businesses financially but can also have a significant impact on staff and customers. We remain committed to tackling theft and will take robust action against offenders.”
