Tragedy struck at a Dunelm store located in the London Retail Park, Maidstone, as a woman collapsed and sadly lost her life. The incident unfolded on Sunday, December 31, prompting the closure of the store for the remainder of the day. The Dunelm store reopened on New Year’s Day following the unfortunate event.

Ambulance services received an emergency call at approximately 10:50 am, prompting a rapid response to the scene. Despite the tireless efforts of paramedics and first responders, the woman’s life could not be saved, and she was pronounced deceased at the location.

A spokesman for the South East Coast ambulance service, expressed the sombre outcome, saying, “Ambulance crews attended the scene, but despite the efforts of all those involved, the person sadly died at the scene.

Eyewitnesses at the scene described a rapid and intensive response, with two ambulances, police officers, and even an air ambulance being dispatched to the location. The woman who had collapsed received immediate medical attention, but tragically, her condition could not be stabilised.

Kent Police also responded to the incident, with a police spokesman stating, “We were called to a medical incident at a retail premises in London Road, Maidstone, at around 11:15 am on Sunday.” The officers attended the scene to assist the South East Coast Ambulance Service in their efforts to manage the situation.

The closure of the Dunelm store during the incident was necessary to ensure the safety and privacy of those involved. Customers present at the time were not provided with specific details regarding the situation, but it was evident that a serious medical incident had occurred.
