After an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a woman has been handed a prison sentence for drug offences in Reading.

Holly Jones, 22, residing on Goldsmith Close, Thatcham, was sentenced to two years and six months in prison and ordered to forfeit drugs, her mobile phone, and cash at Reading Crown Court on Friday, May 3.

Jones pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A, namely heroin and crack cocaine, during a hearing at the same court on March 19.

The incident leading to the arrest occurred on August 23, 2021, when officers stopped an Audi A3 on Jesse Terrace, Reading, which Jones was driving. Observing suspicious behavior, the officers conducted a search under the Misuse of Drugs Act after Jones was seen placing something down her trousers.

During the search, approximately 70 wraps of Class A drugs were discovered on Jones, with an estimated value of £1,400. She was arrested on the same day and subsequently charged on January 9 this year.

PC James Dunwell, the investigating officer based at Reading police station, reiterated the proactive stance of law enforcement in targeting and prosecuting offenders involved in drug supply activities. PC Dunwell emphasized that police activity will be both visible and covert, aimed at disrupting and pursuing offenders engaged in drug supply.

He urged anyone with information related to drug supply in Reading to contact the police via 101 or make a report online. Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
