A 41-year-old woman is in custody following an incident at the Palace of Westminster late on Tuesday, 5 December. At approximately 11:31 pm, the woman approached police officers, claiming to have thrown a lit container of flammable liquid onto parliamentary property near Elizabeth Tower.

Officers promptly recovered the item, which has been seized for forensic examination. The woman was arrested on suspicion of arson and taken to a west London police station, where she remains in custody. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported, and the building sustained no damage.
