A 10-year-old child has been left with potentially life-changing injuries after being struck by a car during a morning collision in Dagenham.

Emergency services were called to New Road at approximately 8:10am on Wednesday, April 23, following reports of a serious crash involving two pedestrians.

The incident, which occurred near the junction with B178 Ballards Road, close to the McDonald’s restaurant, involved a 35-year-old woman and her child, both of whom were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

While the woman’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening, police have confirmed that the child’s injuries may have a long-term impact.

Road Closures and Investigation

New Road was closed into town from Ballards Road to Heathway for several hours while emergency services responded and investigators examined the scene. The road has since reopened.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:
