A13 Closed Near A117 After High-Speed Crash Leaves Man With Life-Changing Injuries
A major stretch of the A13 near the A117 turn-off in East London has been closed following a serious single-vehicle collision that left a man with life-changing injuries.
Emergency services were called at around 8.30pm on Monday evening (June 30) after a car reportedly left the carriageway at high speed, smashed through metal railings and fencing, and came to rest in dense shrubland with a tree on top of the vehicle near Harrier Way.
Crews from the London Fire Brigade, HART (Hazardous Area Response Team), and doctors from London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene. Firefighters worked swiftly to free the man from the wreckage before he was treated by specialist medics at the roadside.
The London Ambulance Service confirmed that a man has suffered life-changing injuries and was taken to a major trauma centre under escort.
The A13 remains fully closed near the A117 junction, with a forensic collision investigation underway.
Authorities say the closure is expected to last several hours, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
A source at the scene for the Metropolitan Police said enquiries into the cause of the crash are ongoing. Both the Met and the London Ambulance Service have been contacted for further comment.
