Banned Driver Jailed After Dangerous Police Chase Through Arundel

A disqualified driver who led police on a reckless 15-minute pursuit through the streets of Arundel has been jailed for 12 months.

Marley Keet, 28, of Old Market Lane, Littlehampton, was already banned from driving when he was spotted by officers outside Arundel around 1pm on April 13. When police attempted to stop him, Keet sped away at high speed, weaving through traffic and putting lives at risk.

At Lewes Crown Court on 17 June, Keet was sentenced for:

He was handed a 12-month prison sentence and banned from driving for an additional two and a half years.


Police Statement

PC Rick Schofield from Sussex Police’s Roads Policing Unit said:

“Keet’s driving was highly reckless and posed a significant risk to himself, his passenger, other road users, and pedestrians in the centre of Arundel. He showed complete disregard for the safety of others.

This case demonstrates our commitment to identifying and removing dangerous drivers from our roads. Excess speed and driving under the influence are among the leading causes of death and serious injury, and we will continue to take action against offenders.”


Sussex Police reaffirmed their commitment to road safety enforcement, particularly around disqualified and uninsured drivers, which remain a priority across the county.
