A major wildfire has broken out on Dartford Heath, prompting emergency services to issue an urgent public health warning.

People living or travelling in the Dartford area are being advised to close windows and doors due to large volumes of smoke drifting from the scene.

Large Firefighting Operation Underway

Six fire engines, a bulk water carrier, and a Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV) are currently on scene. Kent Fire and Rescue Service is using wildfire-specific equipment and high-pressure hose reel jets to tackle the flames across heathland.

The fire was first reported at 4:37pm, and firefighting efforts remain ongoing. The cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.

Kent Police Supporting the Response

Kent Police are supporting the incident and assisting with public safety measures. There are currently no reports of injuries, but the situation remains dynamic.
