Murder Investigation Launched After Man Fatally Stabbed Outside Wetherspoon’s in Chingford Mount
A murder investigation has been launched after a 26-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a shocking attack outside a Wetherspoon’s pub on Chingford Mount Road on Sunday evening.
Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 9:00pm, where the victim was found with a critical stab wound to the chest. Despite the heroic efforts of London Ambulance Service paramedics and trauma doctors, the man was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Witnesses described scenes of panic and horror, with local bar staff rushing to provide a defibrillator while police officers and a member of the public attempted to resuscitate the victim on the pavement outside the pub.
Community in Shock
The incident has left the tight-knit local community in mourning, with many expressing disbelief and sadness.
A blue and white forensic tent was erected at the scene, and Chingford Mount remains under police cordon this morning as specialist officers continue to investigate.
According to locals, the victim was well known and respected in the area. One friend told UKNIP:
“He wasn’t the kind of person to get into fights — everyone loved him. This feels like it was a case of mistaken identity. His mum came to the scene this morning. It’s just heartbreaking.”
A source for the Metropolitan Police revealed that detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command (Homicide Team) are leading the investigation. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage and speaking with witnesses.
Officers were called at 9pm on Sunday 6 July to reports of a stabbing outside a public house on Chingford Mount Road. A man, believed to be aged 26, was found with a stab wound. Despite the best efforts of emergency responders, he sadly died at the scene.”
No arrests have yet been made and enquiries are ongoing.
London Ambulance Service sent multiple resources including ambulance crews, an incident response officer, and London’s Air Ambulance trauma team. Sadly, a man died at the scene despite extensive efforts.”
Police are urging anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam or phone footage, to come forward.
