Major Emergency Response in Yarmouth Following Incident Near Ferry Terminal

A large emergency services operation is underway in Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, this lunchtime following an incident near the Wightlink Ferry Terminal and Yarmouth Lifeboat Station.
Emergency Services Swarm Harbour Area
At least two paramedic vehicles, an ambulance, and a police car were dispatched to the scene shortly after 1:45pm today (Tuesday, August 5). The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also called to assist, landing on Yarmouth Green, directly opposite the harbour, approximately 20 minutes ago.
The exact nature of the incident has not been confirmed, but the scale of the emergency response suggests a serious medical emergency or accident near the waterfront.
Ferry Operations Continue
At this time, Wightlink ferry services are continuing to operate, though some delays may occur as emergency teams work in the vicinity of the terminal. Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys and to follow any directions given by terminal staff or emergency personnel.
Public Urged to Avoid the Area
Police have cordoned off part of the harbour and ferry terminal area to allow paramedics and the air ambulance crew space to work. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area where possible to assist emergency teams.
