An early morning knife attack in New Cross has forced the closure of the A2 New Cross Road near New Cross Gate station. The crime scene has now been extended to include the station after blood was found on the ground and the surrounding area by Police.
Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly after 6am today (15 August), with both Metropolitan Police and the London Ambulance Service in attendance.

The road remains shut in both directions, causing heavy congestion in the area. Bus routes serving New Cross and Lewisham are also being diverted.

Scene of crime officers from the Met Police are now working with detectives. First aid kits and medical equipment lays on the road.
