A fifth man has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of 21-year-old Giovanny Rendon Bedoya in Walworth earlier this year.
Christian Batista-Gonzalez, 22, of no fixed address, was arrested near Barcelona, Spain, on Monday 19 May on suspicion of murder. Following his extradition to the UK on Monday 19 August, he was charged with murder on arrival.
Batista-Gonzalez appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 20 August and was remanded into custody. He is due to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday 22 August.

The incident
Police were called to Hillingdon Street, SE17, at 9.16pm on Monday 14 April, following reports of a stabbing.
Officers attended alongside London Ambulance Service paramedics and found Giovanny suffering from stab wounds. Despite the efforts of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Family support
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Giovanny’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers as the case progresses.
The latest charge brings the total number of men charged in connection with Giovanny’s killing to five.
