A man has been arrested after an imitation handgun and combat knife were found in a car stopped by firearms officers in Northampton

The man was driving a BMW which was stopped in Lincoln Street, Kingsthorpe, after police received intelligence to suggest a weapon was in the car. The vehicle was pulled over at about 3.10pm, after officers located it using ANPR cameras. The man was arrested for being in possession of an imitation firearm in a public place and for being in possession of a bladed article and remains in custody.
