A serious collision involving a pedestrian and a bus has occurred on Abingdon Street,  Emergency services are on scene responding to reports of a person trapped beneath the bus.

 

Emergency services are responding to a serious road traffic collision on Abingdon Street, Westminster, after a pedestrian was struck and trapped beneath a bus this lunchtime

 

The incident occurred near Abingdon Street Gardens, just steps from key government buildings and Westminster Abbey. It is being described as a “bus vs pedestrian” collision, with initial reports indicating persons trapped under the bus.

Major Emergency Response Underway

London Fire Brigade, London Ambulance Service, and Metropolitan Police units are on the scene. Firefighters are understood to be working to free the individual involved, while paramedics remain on standby with critical care support.

The London Ambulance Service has been approached for comment. The current condition of the victim remains unknown.


Traffic Disruption and Closures

Abingdon Street has been closed in both directions, causing severe disruption near Parliament Square and Millbank. Bus services through Westminster are being diverted, and commuters are urged to avoid the area.

Investigation Launched

Police have established a cordon and are working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. A collision investigation unit is expected to attend.

Witnesses are urged to come forward with any dashcam footage or firsthand accounts. Anyone with information should contact Metropolitan Police on 101, or call 999 in an emergency.
