Sussex Police have launched a witness appeal following a serious two-vehicle collision on Freshfield Road in Brighton that also injured a pedestrian and his dog.
The incident occurred around 5:52 PM on Thursday, May 22, near Patching Lodge, involving a Vauxhall Corsa and a Mercedes. The Vauxhall, driven by a 62-year-old Brighton woman, collided with the Mercedes before veering onto the pavement and hitting a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a 59-year-old local man, was walking his dogs at the time. He and one of the dogs sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while the Corsa driver is in critical condition at the hospital. The Mercedes driver was reportedly uninjured.
Police Investigation Underway
Sussex Police are actively investigating the incident and urge any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage to come forward to assist in determining the cause of the collision.
“We are keen to speak with anyone who may have seen the events leading up to or during the collision,” said a police spokesperson.
