Emergency services are responding to serious flooding on the A256 near Tilmanstone, Dover, where a section of the road has been completely blocked by rising water.
The incident occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, 12 June, and has resulted in the closure of the A256 between Eythorne and Sandwich Road. One vehicle became submerged in the floodwaters, prompting the driver to climb onto the roof of their car to await rescue.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service On Scene
Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) crews are at the scene, working to assist stranded motorists and manage the hazardous conditions. At least one fire engine and support units are confirmed to be in attendance.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing the driver safely positioned atop their vehicle, avoiding the rising floodwater as emergency services arrived. There are no immediate reports of injuries.

The A256 remains closed in both directions, and drivers are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes. Kent Police and KFRS are working together to manage traffic and assess the extent of the flooding.
