Drivers on the M25 anti-clockwise are facing severe delays this evening following a full carriageway closure between Junction 29 (Romford/A127) and Junction 28 (Brentwood/A12).

The closure has been in place since around 3pm today (Tuesday, June 17), with officers from Kent Police and National Highways responding to the ongoing incident.

Long Delays Stretch Back to Dartford Crossing

According to AA Maps, miles of congestion have built up, stretching as far back as the Dartford Crossing, with motorists caught in gridlock for hours.

A National Highways spokesperson said:

“If this closure affects your planned route, please allow extra time for your journey.”

Diversion in Place – Hollow Square Route

Motorists travelling anti-clockwise are advised to follow the Hollow Square diversion:

  1. From M25 Junction 29, exit onto the A127 towards London

  2. At Gallows Corner, bear left and take the 4th exit at the roundabout onto the A12 towards Harwich

  3. Rejoin the M25 at Junction 28

Traffic officers remain on scene managing the situation, and local roads including parts of the A12 and A127 are experiencing higher-than-usual volumes as a result of the diversion.

Emergency Services Contacted

We have reached out to Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service for further details on the nature of the incident. The cause of the closure has not yet been confirmed.
