A person has died after being struck by a train at Maidstone Barracks railway station on Thursday evening (7 August 2025).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8pm, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, British Transport Police (BTP) confirmed.

Lines Temporarily Closed

Rail services between Strood and Paddock Wood were suspended for several hours while officers and emergency crews responded. Disruption continued into the evening, with passengers advised to seek alternative routes or allow extra time for travel.

No Suspicious Circumstances

A spokesperson for BTP said:

“Officers were called to Maidstone Barracks station at around 8pm on Thursday, August 7, following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
Paramedics also attended, but sadly the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending formal identification and notification of next of kin.
