SOUTHEND, ESSEX – Tuesday 15 July 2025 | 17:00 BST:
Police have confirmed that three bodies have been recovered from the Southend Airport plane crash site, with efforts underway to recover a fourth victim within the next 24 hours. The operation remains highly complex and sensitive, according to officials leading the multi-agency response.

The light aircraft, a Beechcraft B200 Super King Air, crashed shortly after take-off at 3:48pm on Sunday 13 July, bursting into flames and killing all four people on board.

Medical Charter Flight Confirmed

Authorities have now confirmed that the aircraft was a medical charter flight, transporting a patient into the UK for further treatment.

On board the flight were:

  • The pilot (commander) – male
  • The co-pilot – male
  • A nurse – female
  • A doctor – male

All four tragically lost their lives in the crash. While their identities have not yet been formally confirmed, Essex Police say all are foreign nationals and embassies have been notified. Support for the victims’ families has been arranged in their home countries.

Recovery and Investigation Ongoing

The recovery of the fourth victim is expected to take place within the next 24 hours, as police and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) continue delicate operations at the crash site.
