The community of Barming is mourning the loss of Lamin Manneh, a beloved local figure who tragically died after his motorcycle collided with a lamppost on Christmas Eve. The accident occurred on the A26 Tonbridge Road, near The Bull pub, at approximately 2:30 PM.

Remembering Lamin

Lamin Manneh, aged in his 40s, was riding a white Honda 125cc toward Wateringbury when the crash happened. Despite being rushed to the hospital with severe head injuries, he sadly passed away the same day.

Paying tribute, his partner, Fatoumatta Njaya Mbye, shared her heartbreak, saying:
“I don’t even know what to say. I’m definitely out of words. Lamin was planning to come this January and get married to me as promised, but God knows best.”

Floral Tributes and Community Support

Floral tributes have been left at the crash site next to The Bull pub. One heartfelt note read:
“Lammy, I’ll forever miss seeing your happy face, your bright smile, and hearing you say ‘Stephy’ or ‘lovely one’ across the room in only a way you’ll say it. We’re all missing you terribly and always will. Heaven has gained a beautiful angel.”

Another tribute read:
“You may be gone, but your spirit will always be with us. There is a new star shining in the sky.”

Fundraiser Launched

A GoFundMe campaign, organized by Carrie Manfield, aims to raise £5,000 to repatriate Mr. Manneh’s body to Gambia for burial and to support his grieving family. So far, £1,460 has been raised.

Manfield wrote:
“Lamin was well loved within the community in Wateringbury for over a decade. Words cannot describe how devastated we are by his passing. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family back home in The Gambia. Anything you can donate, big or small, would be greatly appreciated.”

Police Appeal for Information

The A26 was closed for over five hours as emergency services attended the scene. Kent Police confirmed that Lamin Manneh was from Maidstone and that his next of kin have been informed.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Residents with CCTV footage or drivers with dashcam footage from the area at the time are urged to check for relevant recordings.

Community in Mourning

Lamin’s death has left a deep void in the lives of his loved ones and the local community. As tributes continue to pour in, his family and friends are working to honor his memory and provide him with a dignified farewell in his homeland.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the preciousness of life, especially during the holiday season.
