Charlene Ellacott, 36, of North Lane, Aldershot, has been sentenced to 13 weeks in jail after stealing beauty products valued at £72.98 from The Range on Ivy Road. The theft occurred on 2 September, and Ellacott appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on 16 September, where she pleaded guilty to one count of theft from a shop.
Police Sergeant Rob Tiller, from the Aldershot Neighbourhood Policing Team, highlighted Ellacott’s history of shoplifting and its negative impact on local businesses.
“Charlene Ellacott is a prolific shoplifter who stole more than £70 worth of items from a shop in Aldershot. Her behaviour has had a huge impact on various local businesses and retailers in the town,” Sergeant Tiller said. “I hope this result sends a message to offenders that this level of behaviour and criminality will not be tolerated.”
Ellacott’s sentencing serves as a clear warning to those engaging in similar criminal activities, as authorities continue to work to protect local businesses from the disruptive effects of shoplifting.
