Woman Dies After Stabbing in Bootle Shop — Murder Investigation Launched

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman in her 40s died from stab wounds sustained during an incident at a shop on Stanley Road in Bootle, Merseyside.

Emergency services were called to the business premises, near the junction with Wadham Road, at around 5:05pm on Friday (June 20) following reports that a woman had been stabbed in the torso.

She was rushed to hospital for urgent treatment but sadly died from her injuries later that evening.


 Suspect Arrested

A 47-year-old man from Widnes was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Following the victim’s death, he has since been re-arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.


Police Appeal for CCTV and Witnesses

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy from Merseyside Police said:

“It is desperately sad that a woman lost her life earlier today as a result of this incident.
Our thoughts first and foremost are with her family, who are now left to grieve her loss in the most tragic of circumstances.”

He confirmed that the victim and suspect were known to each other, and that the incident is being treated as a domestic assault.

“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident,” he added.


Witnesses and Dashcam Urged to Come Forward

Police are calling on anyone who was in the Stanley Road area around 5pm on Friday, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, to come forward as a matter of urgency.
