Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters responded to a major fire at a warehouse on River Road in Barking yesterday.

The London Fire Brigade said a small section of the warehouse was damaged by fire, along with half of a mixed-use storage area. One car was also destroyed in the blaze. Firefighters removed one gas cylinder from the site as a precaution, as cylinders can pose a significant explosion risk when exposed to heat.

The blaze was highly visible across the area, prompting the Brigade’s 999 Control Centre to receive 32 emergency calls from concerned members of the public.

Fire crews from Barking, Walthamstow, Ilford, and Dagenham fire stations were swiftly deployed to the scene and worked hard to bring the fire under control.

Fortunately, there were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:
“Thanks to the quick response and professional work of our teams, the fire was contained before it could spread further. Our fire investigators will now work to determine the cause.

Residents nearby are advised to remain cautious and report any lingering smoke or safety concerns.
